Ghosts

She walks by the sea counting shells on the beach, 1 - 2 - 3 She picks them up one by one, collecting their ocean sounds She puts them inside of her pocket, and walks them back to the town There she says to all of the people, I collected all the sounds

Jack’s Room (2005) I’m on my knees before you Down on my knees before your walls Dropped my convictions for a small Chance of a glimpse of her again I’m on my knees before you Down on my knees before your vines Somewhat like looking through ice The semi-opacity of time Here – On my own, with your ghost again Here - On your own, with my ghost I’m on my knees before you Your plants can twist around my hands You say “The last time you just ran” But this time… not this time Here – On my own, with your ghost again Here – On your own, with my ghost Last time you just ran But this time you just can’t Last time you just ran But this time you just come on back, Your plants can twist around my hands Last time you just ran But this time you come back, Jack Your plants can twist around my hands (around my, around my, around my…) I’m on my knees before you I know I’m not much one for prayers But please let down your veil of ice I know I’ll find her through time…

Song for a Loved One The Sunset fades from your eyes, There's a quiet light, as day turns into night That day the sun chose not to shine The wind blew, the rain kept time As we sat quiet, lifeless, broken Nothing uttered, nothing spoken Your smile, sleek and wise Brought all your thoughts to life The brilliance of your mind, bright light, fight or you'll never be, you will never be here for Another minute, another day, another year, a birthday cake Family dinners, holidays, and time keeps moving on Another mother, another son, father, daughter, another one, And time just keeps on rolling on and on and on and on... The suddenness of it all, left us in freefall Reeling, feeling small So many things, left unsaid I just can't wrap my head around you being gone So long, loved one You will always be, you will always be with me

Chocolate (2002) “Some days I still like your face” he says to me “And your turquoise veins, and the copper-tonic mane That makes you white” “I’m at my whitest today” I say to him “Steve’s in a casket somewhere in a village that I haven’t seen for a decade” He died… “Don’t feel you have to come back” he says to me “It’s a small room and it’s packed with so many Irises and good intentions, your head will spin” “My head is spinning, my mouth Tastes like chocolate” I say “he’ll never taste Anything anymore, does that seem strange? I’m not okay” He died… There goes another in his flying machine I played a mother, and Shelley played me And Kirk played the loveliest fag we’d ever seen Another brother on the floor, trample on and shut the door Dust at your feet, just let it bleed He died...
